Volunteer Opportunities

Southeast ACSM has a variety of opportunities for professionals and students who want to volunteer and get more involved. 
 
We are especially interesting in providing early career professionals with opportunities for service and leadership in the chapter and experience toward achieving ACSM Fellowship.

We also want our student members to become active SEACSM members and volunteering at the Annual Meeting is a great way to do that!

Doctoral student position, East Carolina University. (posted 1-07-26)

Dr. Elizabeth Bjornsen is seeking a motivated doctoral student to join the research team beginning in Fall 2026.

Her work focuses on understanding how maturation influences movement biomechanics and biological outcomes following ACL reconstruction in pediatric athletes.

The highly interdisciplinary research integrates biomechanics, biology, orthopedics, and biomedical engineering and includes close collaboration with clinicians and community partners in the Eastern North Carolina region.

Applicant Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Strong communication and time-management skills

Preferred:

  • Previous research experience
  • Familiarity with biomechanical instrumentation
  • Programming skills (i.e., MATLAB, R)
